JUNIPER EX 4500 SWITCH L3 40 x SFP+

The EX4500 line of Ethernet switches offers scalable, compact, high-performance platforms for supporting high-density, 10 gigabit per second (Gbps) data center top-of-rack as well as data center, campus, and service provider aggregation deployments.

The EX4500 Ethernet Switch offers 40 wire-speed dual Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 10GbE pluggable ports in a two rack unit base platform, delivering full Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity to networked devices such as servers and other switches. Optional high-speed uplink modules provide eight additional 10GbE ports, increasing the total number of ports to 48 for additional configuration flexibility.

The EX4550 Ethernet Switch offers 32 wire-speed GbE or 10GbE pluggable ports in a compact one rack unit base platform. The EX4550 includes two expansion slots, one in front and one in back, that accommodate optional expansion modules, providing tremendous configuration and deployment flexibility. The expansion modules increase the EX4550’s density to 48 wire-speed GbE or 10GbE ports, delivering 480 Gbps of Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity.

The EX4500 and EX4550 switches offer an economical, power-efficient and compact solution for aggregating 10GbE uplinks from access devices in core data center and building deployments. The switches easily meet enterprise core switch requirements by delivering wire-speed performance on every port, full device redundancy and dual-speed GbE and 10GbE interfaces. The EX4500 and EX4550 switches include support for Layer 3 dynamic routing protocols such as RIP and OSPF, MPLS services such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, and a comprehensive quality-of-service (QoS) feature set.

Both switches also support Juniper’s unique Virtual Chassis technology, dramatically reducing complexity and introducing a new level of flexibility for data center top-rack or end-row server aggregation deployments. EX4500 and EX4550 switches can be combined with EX4200 switches in a single Virtual Chassis configuration to support environments where both GbE and 10GbE servers are present.

The EX4500 and EX4550 run the same Junos operating system that powers other Juniper switches, routers and security devices, providing a consistent set of features and capabilities across the Juniper network infrastructure.
